Metal
amalgam has been widely used for at least the last 150 years. Today
however, there are other alternatives. At New England Dental we only
use tooth coloured materials to fill teeth. Despite there being concerns
about the safety of amalgam due to it’s mercury content there
is still no conclusive scientific evidence to support its discontinued
use. I choose to use tooth coloured materials because of my commitment
to aesthetic dentistry. The latest research on these new materials
indicate that, properly placed, they will last as long as the amalgam
fillings.
